Our Individual and Case Support service provides confidential advice, guidance, and advocacy to help individuals facing discrimination, inequality, or injustice navigate their challenges and access the support they need.
Advice and Support to Individuals
The Race Equality Centre provides assistance to those that are complaining about racial harassment or discrimination in either employment or the provision of goods, facilities or services.
Initially it was funded by the Race Relations Board established through the Race Relations Act of 1965. It was later funded by the Commission for Racial Equality (established through the Race Relations Act 1976) and the two local authorities initially, Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council. We are now funded solely through funding bodies and income generation.
The membership organisation became a company limited by guarantee in 1995 and then a registered charity in 1996. Since 2006 the organisation has operated under the name of The Race Equality Centre (TREC).
