Holistic Outreach for Migrant Empowerment
HOME is an upcoming project designed to provide comprehensive support to migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. The initiative focuses on helping these individuals integrate into UK society through education, housing, and employment assistance.
Project Overview
By offering education, housing assistance, and employment support, HOME fosters a sense of belonging and ensures a smooth transition into life in the UK.
This holistic approach not only enhances the integration process but also empowers individuals to become independent and thrive in their new environment.
Our Supporters & Partners
We are grateful to all the individuals, organisations, and community members who support our work.
Project Goals & Objectives
The HOME programme is designed to support the integration and empowerment of migrants and refugees through targeted interventions in education, housing, and employment.
Housing Assistance:
Improve access to stable housing through tenancy rights education, language support, and guidance on navigating housing benefits.
Education & Skills Development:
Enhance integration by providing tailored ESOL courses and IT training, focusing on communication, job readiness, and understanding UK cultural norms.
Employment Readiness:
Empower individuals to secure jobs by offering support in CV writing, job applications, and interview techniques.
Target Audience & Primary Beneficiaries
HOME fills a critical gap by supporting migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in integrating into UK society. Many of these individuals face language barriers, lack of housing stability, and challenges in accessing employment opportunities.
This project seeks to address these challenges, ensuring beneficiaries can access essential services and develop the skills they need to succeed.
By providing customised language and employment training, as well as housing assistance, HOME aims to build a stronger, more inclusive community where everyone feels supported and valued.
Why This Project Matters
What the Community is Saying
“HOME fills a vital role in helping us settle into a new life here. Many of us have struggled with language barriers, finding suitable housing, and securing employment. HOME offers a way forward.”
The Need for Support
“This project is essential because it helps migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers overcome immediate challenges, like navigating the benefits system and finding housing. It’s more than just support—it’s a lifeline for a better future.”
A Holistic Approach
“With personalised mentoring, ESOL courses, and employment guidance, HOME equips us with the skills and confidence to succeed. It’s an initiative that truly understands what we need to integrate and thrive.”
How Our Projects Are Making a Difference
Post-Project Evaluation Case Study – Funded by Postcode Places Trust
TREC is proud to share the success of two community-led initiatives that have helped people across Leicester connect, learn, and thrive: the ESOL Gardening Booklets project and the Active Communities Leicester Project.
Both projects were developed to strengthen wellbeing, build confidence, and promote inclusion through creative, practical learning. With support from Postcode Places Trust, these initiatives have shown how everyday activities like gardening or group fitness, can bring communities together and inspire lasting change.
ESOL Gardening Booklets:
Learning English Through Nature
Funded by Postcode Places Trust, the ESOL Gardening Booklets project offered free English language learning resources built around horticulture. Participants learned new vocabulary and conversational skills through gardening activities, helping them gain confidence and connect with others.
It’s not just about studying, we’re growing plants, meeting new people, and learning words we can actually use every day,” said one participant.
The project supported migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers who may face barriers to formal education and social participation.
Active Communities Leicester:
Moving for Mind and Body
The Active Communities Leicester Project promotes health, inclusion, and connection through accessible physical activity. From walking groups to wellbeing workshops, the project has encouraged residents to take part in activities that support both body and mind.
“These sessions have helped me feel healthier and more confident. I’ve made new friends and finally have something to look forward to each week,” shared one participant. .
The project offers a safe and welcoming space for people of all backgrounds to stay active, build relationships, and feel supported, particularly those experiencing isolation or barriers to joining formal fitness programmes.
