TREC Tributes - Wolde Selassie – 28/10/2015
You were a political activist, researcher, author, journalist, poet, musician, tutor, a GREAT man. You introduced me to renowned poets, political commentators, and esteem scholars, allowing me the privilege of engaging in dialogue with brilliant minds. You were my friend, confidant, tutor, guardian, someone I could call on in the knowledge that you would respond promptly and appropriately with a steer or a suggestion.
Just Sunday 25th October 2015 during my visit, we shared stories from our school days, laughed about your youthful antics and pranks, a longing for revisiting our past. We knew our friendship had been solid, I knew you were very ill but we preferred to remain positive so we chatted about your recovery, the visitors you were expecting to come to you as well as the visits you were hoping to make.
I now believe you knew and chose not to tell me that I would not be visiting you in this life again.
I am told that everyone has a friend during each stage of life but I have been lucky to have had you as a friend during ALL stages of my life.
Wolde Selassie – my dear friend has gone to join our ancestors.
