The Race Equality Centre provides assistance to those that are complaining about racial harassment or discrimination in either employment or the provision of goods, facilities or services.
The Race Equality Centre Job Club
Support, guidance and advice to help TREC clients complete their job search activities as part of their Jobseeker Allowance (JSA) requirements.
The Job Club is coordinated by dedicated volunteers and supervised by TREC staff to provide 1:1 sessions, drop in and workshops to help with improving IT and English language skills to support job search activities. Volunteers will help our clients to access Universal Jobs Match (UJM) online services, help them to develop their CV’s, complete on line applications and prepare for job interviews. Translation services are also available if required by clients. The Job Club aims to support TREC clients to succeed in finding employment or further educational programmes to support their progression.

Race Discrimination
The Equality Act 2010 protects individuals from being treated differently because of their particular situation, as listed in the Act which aims to promote a fair and more equal society. For example, the Act makes it unlawful for an employer, service provider or public body to discriminate against individuals, including employees, service users etc, because of their race, including their colour, nationality / citizenship, ethnic or national origin. There are four types of discrimination: direct discrimination, indirect discrimination, harassment and victimisation. Where a person feels they have been discriminated against on racial grounds they can complain to the relevant regulatory body, a tribunal or court. However, this can often be a demanding and stressful process and often requires support from an appropriate individual or body.
The Race Equality Centre has a dedicated team of employees and volunteers who provide advice and guidance to assist people complaining about discrimination. TREC also delivers tailored training to private and public sector organisations who are seeking to improve and encourage diversity. We also offer equality checking services to ensure that policies are equality proof before they are implemented in order to avoid indirect discrimination claims. Because we are no longer funded by Leicester City Council, our area of operation has been extended to include the whole United Kingdom.
